Mask Issue Escalates at Local Hardware Store

Arnold, CA…From Sgt. Greg Stark at the Calaveras Sheriff’s Office..”Today at 12:30pm an Ace hardware, Arnold, employee asked customer to wear a mask and provided one. Customer took it walked around then threw the mask down at the register when asked again to put it on. Said “I don’t have to. Come outside I will whup your ass.” Employee followed subject outside and subject had an open carry firearm on his thigh. He placed his hand on it like he was going to pull it out but did not pull the weapon out. Other subjects were around at the time.”

Wow, no part of that is ok! People need to respect store policies period! The same right you have not to wear a mask is the same right the store has to require them. If you can’t follow store policies, then don’t go to the store. That employee should not have elevated the situation by following the customer out either. I’m glad this didn’t end up worse then it did. I personally think that people need to respect each other’s rights and that means the stores rights too. I hope they caught that customer because that is just a whole different level of crazy!

What is with these Anti-Makers complaining about their rights!? You have to wear clothes into stores too you idiots. No shirt, no shoes, no service has been around for a very long time. Nobody complained than… and now with a virus that can kill elderly and the unhealthy, another piece of cloth is just an absurd idea to you all?

Of course the guy had to put his hand on his gun. People who want to carry guns have a need to feel big and powerful because they are wimps who don’t feel big and powerful. They walk around scared of everything and have a weapon to feel a bit less scared. His bluster, “come outside and I’ll whup your ass,” was an attempt to hide his fear and whimpiness. He didn’t expect the employee to take him up on it.

You and that idiot are both wrong.

Same scarred people that would grab for a gun in a situation like this are the same ones accusing mask wearers of being scarred of the virus. No brains! They want to call mask wearers sheep when they are just as much a sheep as anyone else. I carry a gun, but I would never pull it for a fist fight, especially one that was provoked and could have been avoided. The process of getting my license to carry was too easy. Some of these people need a mental evaluation before being trusted with a gun.

BTW-it’s not open carry. It’s concealed carry in the state of California.
Most people that carry, do not conduct there selves in this manner.
His right to conceal carry, should be revoked.
He is a danger, with a chip on his shoulder.
The employee is a dedicated person and should be commended.

Not only should his CCW be revoked but he should do some jail time.

Who said he had a right to have his weapon on him? Did he show his license or maybe the police confirmed it? I was thinking that if he felt he had a right to not wear it, he may think he doesn’t have to have a license to carry either…‍♀️

What is not legal unless you have a permit is concealed carry (very easy to get that permit in calaveras county). Open carry is having a gun on your hip like some yahoo at a dude ranch, that is legal without a permit. Either way, it is wimps who are afraid of their shadows who carry a gun. A gun in Arnold, really? When was the last time you heard of a shootout or a shooting anywhere along highway 4?

Did you know that BY LAW, you can not carry a firearm and wear a mask in the state of California. AND you also can not disclose that you are carrying BY LAW, in the state of California. So just maybe he was frustrated because he couldn’t actually wear a mask but also couldn’t explain why? Who knows. Everyone is so quick to jump to conclusions. Isolation=anxiety. And to the person naming names in the comments, that’s hugley inappropriate.

Well he broke the law by showing his gun. He was totally in the wrong. If you have a CCW and you carry you need to show self control.

Is that the end of the story? Did the police catch this guy?
