Bret Harte FFA Kiss a Pig Tradition Continues During COVID!

Angels Camp, CA… On Wednesday and Friday, February 24th and 26th, 2021, the Bret Harte High School FFA Chapter previewed the annual Kiss-A-Pig event through a virtual video that was displayed in the classrooms. While the tradition typically carried out with Bret Harte students putting money into their favorite teachers “pig cans” and winners kissing their animals at a rally, this year had to be reinvented. The entire school body voted online and submitted their votes all electronically. The 1st place winner kisses a Pig, second place kisses a sheep and third place kisses a chicken.

This event typically generates an abundance of competition within our staff members with certain teachers helping to “sabotage” each other into kissing the farm animals during a school wide rally. When the votes were all counted, the results followed as: 3rd place was Mr. Barnett (Math Department) who kissed a CHICKEN, 2nd place was Mrs. Maurer(Science Department) who kissed a LAMB, and finally our 1st place staff member who casted her lips upon a PIG was Mr. Hodson (History Department). While the 20 year, fun-filled, exciting competition did not get to be carried out as it was hoped to have, the Bret Harte FFA still worked to provide the student body with as much normalcy as possible. We hope to continue the love and support for this event with our staff members & students for years to come. See you next year!
