Amber Rose is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA…Meet Amber Rose, a beautiful orange tabby estimated to be about five years old. This darling girl was outgoing, playful and super-friendly when she first arrived at the shelter as a stray but in recent weeks has become increasingly shy and now takes her a while to warm up to new people. If you sit on the floor and talk softly, she will slowly approach and enjoy gentle pets, though she prefers to sit beside you rather than on your lap. It’s almost as if she is telling us, thanks for taking care of me but this is getting old and I’m really looking forward to meeting my new forever family or person – perhaps you?

Amber Rose will need a calm household with a patient, cat-savvy person who can provide consistent love and attention while allowing her time to adjust to a new situation and become a happy kitty once again. Amber Rose can sometimes get over-stimulated when petted so a home without young children is probably best. As with all cats available for adoption, she is up-to-date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already spayed, she can go home with you today!

Come visit Miss Amber, impound no. AO52740, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Amber Rose’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program! When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered is $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
