Samantha is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA…Meet Samantha, a lovely white and brown tabby adult about 3 years old. She arrived at the shelter as a stray and sadly no one has come looking for her. A big gal tipping the scales at nearly 12 pounds, Samantha has an easygoing personality and thrives on attention. She enjoys being brushed and shows great promise as being a sweet lap kitty. She is very friendly and always eager to meet new people, gently head butting one’s arm or leg to collect a pat or a scratch behind the ears. We feel Samantha will make a wonderful companion or family cat in most any household where she will be showered with the love and care she deserves.

As with all cats available for adoption, Samantha is up-to-date on her routine vaccinations and has been micro-chipped. Already spayed, she can go home with you today!

Come visit Samantha, impound no. AO52922, along with other cats and dogs awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this kitty, please email Animal Services volunteer Cynthia at clpino@caltel.com, Kathy at kbandy.co.calaveras.ca.us or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Samantha’s impound number when making inquiries.

Currently, the Calaveras shelter remains open for visitors wishing to adopt. We are, however, limiting viewing to one person at a time for COVID precautions. Please understand there may be a wait for you to view the shelter animals, many of which still await their forever homes during this pandemic. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are very much needed as well. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or in the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity,
the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered is $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
