Airola Fire Update, 700 Acres, 10% Containment, 0 Structures lost or Damaged, 345 Fire Personnel

Vallecito, CA…Great, Great work by firefighters on the ground and in the air!!! They checked a fire that if it had established itself in the Stanislaus drainage and started crawling uphill could have easily been as destructive as the Caldor fire is to our north. The latest from CAL FIRE TCU follows..”Firefighters observed extreme fire behavior yesterday afternoon as the fire made uphill runs and is terrain driven. Critically dry fuels and steep terrain challenged fire crews overnight. Firefighters will continue to establish direct and indirect containment lines today.

Check out the smoke output or lack thereof from the Airola Fire this morning above. We made the heat map last night…below.

Hotter and drier temperatures are forecasted today through the weekend with poor humidity recovery overnight.
