Your Calaveras Pet of the Week is Chioni

San Andreas, CA…This week we are delighted to feature Chioni, an Alaskan Husky intact male who is estimated to be 3-4 years old and weighs in at 43 pounds. Chioni is as handsome and striking as he is peaceful, gentle and affectionate. His name means snow in Greek. Hard to list all he has going for him! He sports excellent leash manners, he tested well with both male and female dogs, large and small, including some reactive ones. He keeps a clean kennel so he may be housebroken.

We sense he may have been left outdoors a lot since he has fly strike on his ears and face. This will heal over time.

If you already have a dog, a meet ‘n greet is required. Chioni will need to be neutered before joining your family. Come and meet him – well worth a visit!

As with all dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter, Chioni is microchipped and up to date on his routine vaccinations. He will need to be neutered before following you home.

Come visit Chioni, impound no. AO53343, along with other dogs and cats awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail).

Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday – Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this dog, please email or or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Chioni’s impound no. AO53343 when making inquiries. Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
