Mountain Passes Close Again as Storm System Moves Through

Arnold, CA…State Route 89/Monitor Pass is closed from SR-395 in Mono County to SR-4 in Alpine County due to snow.
Chain controls or snow tires are required from Picketts Junction to 2.7 miles south of U.S. 50/Luther Pass in El Dorado County. Earlier Monday, SR-108/Sonora Pass was closed at Kennedy Meadows due to snow, and SR-4/Ebbetts Pass was closed due to snow, from the east end of Lake Alpine to Wolf Creek Road. Please seek alternate routes. There is no ETO for SR-89/Monitor Pass, SR-4/Ebbetts Pass or SR-108/Sonora Pass.

Please research chain control locations as Caltrans is currently working to update chain control descriptions for consistency with internet mapping, such as Google maps and Mapquest.
