Calaveras County Sheriff, District Attorney, CHP & Others Attended Town Hall in Murphys

Murphys, CA…On October 20, 2021, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office was invited to a Town Hall meeting at the Native Sons Hall in Murphys. The well-attended meeting was hosted by the Murphys Community Club and had a guest panel that consisted of Sheriff Rick DiBasilio, District Attorney Barbara Yook, Supervisor Merita Calloway, CHP Commander Mayolo Banuelos, Utica Water and Power Authority General Manager Joel Metzger, CHP Sergeant Keerat Lai, and Sheriff’s Lieutenant Greg Stark.

Some of the many topics covered were an overview of the Utica Water and Power Authority, the juvenile justice system in Calaveras County, the crime rate in the Murphys area (calls for service down approx. 34.5 % since July 2021), traffic safety and road improvements (paving projects). After the main topics were discussed, the meeting was opened up to a general question and answer period.
