D-Day, June 6th 1944, 73 Years Since The Allies Stormed The Beaches At Normandy

Normandy, France….73 years ago today wad D-Day. The largest amphibious landing in history and one where the fist to storm the beaches faced overwhelming odds. The bravery it took to leave their landing crafts and march forward wave after wave until a solid foothold had been gained can never be overstated. D-Day marked the beginning of the end for Nazi Germany and the return of freedom for much of Europe. June 6th is always a good day to remember that true evil does exist in the world and that our gratitude is always owed to those who will step up to fight it.

A LCVP (Landing Craft, Vehicle, Personnel) from the U.S. Coast Guard-manned USS Samuel Chase disembarks troops of Company E, 16th Infantry, 1st Infantry Division (the Big Red One) wading onto the Fox Green section of Omaha Beach (Calvados, Basse-Normandie, France) on the morning of June 6, 1944. American soldiers encountered the newly formed German 352nd Division when landing. During the initial landing two-thirds of Company E became casualties.
