Local Youth Heading to Conference in Tennessee ~ by Missie Maury

Knoxville, TN…Every three years more than 5,000 students from across The Evangelical Covenant Church come together in one place to glimpse how they fit into the bigger picture of God’s kingdom. It is called CHIC (which stands for Covenant High In Christ) and is five days of worship, transformation, and fun. CHIC takes place from July 15th through July 20th.

This year, San Andreas Community Covenant Church (SACCC) will be sending nineteen high school students and four leaders to this event, taking place in Knoxville, Tennessee. The SACCC group will be joined by five students from Chapel in the Pines in Arnold. Good Samaritan in Valley Springs will be sending a group of twenty one people.

Both groups will spend July 14th traveling to Atlanta, Georgia by plane and then to Knoxville by bus. During the conference, students participate in morning lessons and discussions, excursions (such as white water rafting, cave tours, and outdoor paintball) and service projects in the afternoon, as well as speakers and concerts during the evening. Once the conference has concluded, everyone will spend July 20th heading back to their homes.

Each and every student has worked hard to make their way on this trip. Students from SACCC spent months to raise the necessary money for this conference, over $32,000! We are all looking forward to this trip, and will happily update you once we return to share more.
