The President’s Wine Weekend Filled Our Area with Wine Enthusiasts

Murphys, CA…The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance hosted the 24th Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend event on February 15th and 16th. 31 family wineries join together Presidents’ Weekend to share the best wines and visitor experiences in Calaveras Wine Country. The 24th Annual “Presidents’ Wine Weekend” event opens the doors to discovering new wines, winery seminars and special events in historical towns of the Sierra Foothills – a 90 minute drive from the San Francisco Bay Area. The photos below are from Sunday & Saturday traffic was significantly higher.

This year featured expanded seminars at: Brice Station Vineyards, Chatom Winery, Coppermine Winery, Locke Vineyards, Boyle MacDonald Wines, Aloria Vineyards, Stevenot Winery, Prospect 772, Ironstone Vineyards, Twisted Oak Winery and Vina Moda. Topics included “Bottling Bootcamp”, “Wine Caves are Cool” “Highest Elevation Vineyard Tour and Barrel Tasting”, “An Exploration of Sangiovese”, “Sustainable Winemaking”, “Calaveras Wine History Tour & Tasting” and more.

“We have such a rich history of winemaking in our Gold Rush Era towns throughout the Sierra Foothills”, shares Sandra Hess, CWA Executive Director. “The Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend event is our version of an Open House, offering opportunities for visitors to get to know members of our winemaking community and the families who run our tasting rooms, restaurants and hotels throughout Calaveras Wine Country”.

After picking up commemorative wine glasses and wristbands at winery seminar, event attendees enjoyed hand-selected wine flights at 30 participating tasting rooms in Calaveras Wine Country. This popular event sells out each year

The 24th Annual Presidents’ Wine Weekend event was presented by the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance (CWA) and co-sponsored by Bear Valley Mountain Resort. The CWA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing the awareness of all wines produced in Calaveras County and/or produced from Calaveras grapes.
