Fire Chief Nick Casci is the New Tuolumne-Calaveras CAL FIRE Unit Chief

San Andreas, CA…California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit would like to congratulate Unit Chief Josh White on his retirement after 32 fire seasons of dedicated service to the State of California including seven years as our Unit Chief. On April 1st, CAL FIRE Director Thom Porter stated, “I am pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Casci to the position of Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit Chief.”

Chief Casci began his fire service career with the Nevada City Fire Department as a Volunteer Firefighter in 1998. In 2000, he started with CAL FIRE in the Nevada Yuba Placer Unit (NEU) as a Seasonal Firefighter I. In 2003, Chief Casci promoted to Limited Term Fire Apparatus Engineer (FAE) in NEU, and in 2006, Chief Casci promoted to permanent FAE.

In 2008, Chief Casci promoted to permanent Fire Captain in the Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit (TCU) at San Andreas Headquarters, and in 2012 he promoted to Battalion Chief in TCU, where he worked overseeing the West Point and San Andreas Battalions. In 2017, Chief Casci promoted to Division Chief – Administration in the San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit (CZU) and quickly returned to TCU in 2018, as the Deputy Chief of Operations.
