Jackson, CA…After the hustle and bustle of the holidays has passed, January is a great time to begin planning and planting parts of your spring vegetable garden. This year why not include a few well, chosen annual flowers to brighten up and add color to your veggie garden. Annuals also attract pollinators that can help your vegetables.
Join the UCCE Master Gardeners of Amador County on January 14, 2017 for their public class, “Garden Planning: Vegetables and Annuals Now and Later”. Topics that will be discussed include appropriate plant and site selection, planting times and techniques for different elevations and microclimates, soil preparation as well as pest management using UC approved IPM (Integrated Pest Management) methods. Hand-outs will be available. The class is free and open to the public. No reservations are required. All classes are held in the GSA building at 12200-B Airport Rd. in Jackson from 9am to Noon.
