The loans are available to small businesses, nonprofits and public entities including federally recognized Tribes that are located in or locating to Tuolumne County. Applicants are required to\u00a0provide new, permanent job opportunities, predominantly for low- and moderate-income individuals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-100388\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/image001-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"144\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/image001-1.jpg 887w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/image001-1-300x68.jpg 300w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/image001-1-768x173.jpg 768w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/image001-1-570x129.jpg 570w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/image001-1-701x158.jpg 701w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HCD\u00a0received an award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development under the Community Development Block Grant \u2013 National Disaster Resilience funding to demonstrate how expanding biomass-based businesses could make Tuolumne County more resilient as it continues to rebuild from the devastation of the 2013 Rim Fire.\u00a0HCD partnered with SNC to lead the effort to establish a new Biomass Utilization Fund to encourage the use of forest biomass and increase community and forest resilience.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis funding for loans will go far to meet the state\u2019s goal of creating resilience in the county and can serve as a model that can be replicated in other parts of the state,\u201d said Jennifer Seeger, HCD\u2019s Acting Deputy Director for HCD\u2019s Division of Financial Assistance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HCD and SNC have entered into an agreement with RCAC to manage the Biomass Utilization Fund.\u00a0Applications are being accepted now, and all applications received by\u00a0June 12, 2020\u00a0will be given the same consideration. Applications received after June 12 will be evaluated based on the availability of funds. Recipients of Biomass Utilization Fund loans must document job creation and expend all funds by\u00a0April 30, 2022.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to be working with RCAC on this program to boost the restoration economy in Tuolumne County,\u201d said SNC Executive Officer Angela Avery. \u201cSNC is hearing from communities across the Sierra Nevada that the timing couldn&#8217;t be better to invest in job creation and forest resilience.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cRCAC is honored and enthused to manage the loan making process for this important endeavor to further Tuolumne County\u2019s resilience and rebuilding effort.
