<\/p>\nSan Andreas, CA…On Sunday May 24, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed an additional case of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. This case is an adult male who resides along the Upper Highway 4 Corridor. The individual was not showing symptoms at the time of testing. \u201cAs people observe Memorial Day weekend this serves as a reminder that coronavirus doesn\u2019t take weekends off,\u201d said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. \u201cWe urge people to take preventive actions to lower their risk of getting COVID-19 as we enjoy recently opened areas of Calaveras County.\u201d<\/p>\n

Calaveras Public Health staff will continue to investigate this new case to determine any possible persons who may have had close personal contact with the positive individual. Close contacts will be assessed and monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness.<\/p>\n
There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. Calaveras Public Health urges the public to:
\n\uf0b7 Stay at least 6 feet away from others
\n\uf0b7 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
\n\uf0b7 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
\n\uf0b7 Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissues, or your elbow (not your hands)
\n\uf0b7 Wear a cloth face covering when you are around people not in your household<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone should continue to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the county. Let\u2019s avoid undoing everything we have built to protect the health of our community,\u201d said Dr. Kelaita.<\/p>\n
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases for Calaveras County is now fourteen.
\nOf those confirmed cases, thirteen cases have since recovered. To date, there have
\nbeen no reported deaths to COVID-19.<\/p>\n
