<\/p>\nSan Andreas, CA…On Wednesday June 3, 2020, Calaveras Public Health confirmed an additional case of COVID-19 in Calaveras County. This case is an adult female from San Andreas.\u00a0 Calaveras Public Health staff is investigating this new case to determine any possible persons who may have had close personal contact with the positive individual. Close contacts will be assessed and monitored for signs and symptoms of COVID-19 illness. Community transmission of disease remains a serious concern.<\/p>\n

There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19. The best protection against COVID-19 continues to be to:
\n\uf0b7 Stay at least 6 feet away from people outside of your household
\n\uf0b7 Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
\n\uf0b7 Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
\n\uf0b7 Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissues, or your elbow (not your hands)
\n\uf0b7 Wear a face covering over your nose and mouth to protect others<\/p>\n
\u201cWe urge everyone to care for each other by taking actions that will be important to prevent more cases,\u201d said Dr. Dean Kelaita, Calaveras County Health Officer. \u201cOlder adults and people who have underlying health conditions remain at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19, so it will continue to be important for vulnerable residents to stay at home as much as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vulnerable groups should have groceries and medicine delivered, and call their medical provider immediately if they have even mild symptoms. The incubation period for COVID-19 can be as long as14 days. If you think you were exposed to the virus or develop symptoms, call your health care provider and consider getting tested. You may be asked to stay home and monitor yourself for symptoms of illness, like fever of respiratory problems.<\/p>\n
A COVID-19 testing site operated by OptumServe is open at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Walk-ins are welcome. Appointments can also be made by going to www.lhi.care\/covidtesting. For people without internet access, call (888) 634-1123. People can be tested with or without symptoms of COVID-19. If individuals have health insurance, their insurance provider will be billed. A referral by a doctor is not needed.<\/p>\n
Copays will not be collected at the site. Individuals who do not have insurance can be tested at no-cost.
\nThe total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases for Calaveras County is now sixteen. Of those confirmed cases, thirteen cases have since recovered. To date, there have been no reported deaths to COVID-19.<\/p>\n
