.A heating trend is expected for the rest of this week. A
\nprolonged period of triple digit heat is possible late this week
\ninto next week for the Central Valley, foothills, and Delta. The
\nweekend is expected to be very hot, with Valley highs 103-107
\nacross the Valley. There will be moderate to very high heat risk
\nduring this time, which could impact the general population,
\nespecially those who will be spending an extended time outdoors.<\/p>\n

\nSUNDAY EVENING…<\/p>\n
* WHAT…Dangerously hot conditions with afternoon highs between
\n 100 and 107 for the Valley and between 95 to 103 for the
\n foothills and Delta.<\/p>\n
* WHERE…Central and Southern Sacramento Valley, Delta, Northern
\n San Joaquin Valley and Motherlode Counties.<\/p>\n
* WHEN…From Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.<\/p>\n
* IMPACTS…Heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and
\n heat stroke can occur due to prolonged exposure to hot
\n temperatures, even to the general population. People most
\n vulnerable include those who spend lots of time outdoors,
\n those without air conditioning, young children, the elderly
\n and those with chronic illness.<\/p>\n
PRECAUTIONARY\/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…<\/p>\n
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this
\nsituation. Be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-
\nconditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives
\nand neighbors.<\/p>\n
Young children and pets should never be left unattended in
\nvehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during
\nwarm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal
\ntemperatures in a matter of minutes.<\/p>\n
