<\/p>\nArnold, CA…The National Weather Service in Sacramento has issued an Excessive Heat Warning starting today and extending through at least Wednesday of next week. Please take care to stay hydrated and safe and to all of our new part and full time residents. The real ugly and dangerous portion of our fire season is now through October and even into November or until we get our first soaking rain. Remember the horrific Paradise Fire? The season ending wetting rain came only three days after that fire destroyed the town and took so many lives. All of our lives can change in an instant so please be careful. Sometimes we all hear fire safety and tune it out. Please don’t as the next three months are critical especially this year as thanks COVID-19 as we are thankful we have thousands of new people here as it helps our economy and please help us get through this fire season campaign fire free. …Dangerous and Prolonged Heatwave Begins Today…<\/p>\n
.A long-duration and extreme heatwave will begin to impact the
\nregion today, lasting through at least next week Wednesday.
\nTemperatures will be around 10 to 20 degrees above normal with
\nhighs 102 to 110 across the Valley and 95 to 107 across the
\nfoothills. Isolated locations in the Valley may exceed 110. There
\nwill be very little to no overnight relief with lows in the 70s to
\n80s across the area. Significant heat impacts are expected for
\nthe general public, especially for those sensitive to the heat,
\npets, and livestock.<\/p>\n

\n9 PM PDT WEDNESDAY…<\/p>\n
* WHAT…Dangerously hot conditions with afternoon highs 102 to
\n 110 for the Valley with locally hotter conditions, and 95 to
\n 107 for the foothills and Delta. Overnight lows in the upper 60s
\n to around 80.<\/p>\n
* WHERE…Central Valley, Delta, foothills, and mountains
\n southwestern of Shasta County to western Colusa County.<\/p>\n
* WHEN…From Friday afternoon through Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n
* IMPACTS…Extreme and prolonged heat will significantly
\n increase the potential for heat related illnesses,
\n particularly for those working or participating in outdoor
\n activities.<\/p>\n
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Local rivers and streams continue to run
\n fast. Water safety, including wearing a life jacket, should be
\n practices when on and near the water.<\/p>\n
PRECAUTIONARY\/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…<\/p>\n
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
\nof the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
\nchildren and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
\nunder any circumstances.<\/p>\n
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
\npossible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
\nevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
\nstroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
\npossible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
\nSafety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
\nrest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
\novercome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
