Position(s): Mental Health Paraprofessional<\/p>\n
Work Year: 10 Month employee (Full Year = 183 days)<\/p>\n
Start Date: 2020-2021 school year<\/p>\n
Hours per day: 6.5 hours per day<\/p>\n
Salary: Range 7: $16.48-$18.13 p\/hour, depending on experience<\/p>\n
DESCRIPTION: Under the supervision of the School Counselor, School Psychologist, Classroom Teacher(s) and School Site Administrators\/Principal, the Mental Health Paraprofessional will perform necessary duties to assign in the maintaining the education, care and development of mentally, physically, socially and emotionally challenged students, and contribute his\/her talents to create an excellent program and positive school culture at Bret Harte Union High School District.<\/p>\n
QUALIFICATIONS:<\/p>\n
Education: High School Diploma. Passing score on the proficiency test or possess an Associate of Arts (AA) Degree or higher or have completed 48 college units. Additional training desired in child development, special education, disabling conditions, trauma or Autism Spectrum Disorder is desirable.<\/p>\n
Experience: Implementing behavior management practice and principles, including but not limited to: developmentally appropriate practices, behavioral interventions, mindfulness and relaxation techniques, evidence-based practices employed with socially, emotionally, mentally and physically challenged children.<\/p>\n
Knowledge: Qualifying Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, trauma informed practices, positive behavior support strategies, conflict resolution, CPR & First Aid.<\/p>\n
Working Conditions: First Aid and CPR required. New employees have thirty (30) days from the date of appointment to fulfill this requirement.<\/p>\n
