Calaveras Animal Disaster Service – CADS
\nTraining Exercise 11\/21\/2020
\nObjectives:
\n1. Familiarization with county roads from Wilseyville to San Andreas.
\n2. Test the concept of using pilot vehicles to lead evacuation trailers into a disaster area.
\n3. Test communications among responding vehicles using cell phones with handheld radios as
\nbackup.
\nScenario:
\nRespond to a request for animal evacuation at the intersection of Rail Road Flat Rd and Blizzard Mine
\nRd.
\nRoute:
\nHwy 49 \u2013 San Andreas to Mokelumne Hill
\nHwy 26 \u2013 Mokelumne Hill to Rail Road Flat Rd
\nRailroad Flat Road to Mountain Ranch Rd
\nMountain Ranch Road to San Andreas
\nPilot Vehicle:
\nThe purpose of the pilot vehicle is to ensure that following trailers are alerted to:
\n\u2022 possible places en route where they can be turned around
\n\u2022 approaching vehicles where narrow roads may make it difficult to pass
\nStaging area – Calaveras Superior Court parking lot, 400 Government Center Dr, San Andreas
\nWhen: Saturday, November 21, 2020
\nTime: 10am – noon
\nALERT: Some roads are narrow with tight corners. This route is NOT recommend
\nfor trailers over 20ft long or those with minimal trailer experience. However, pilot vehicles
