Members of the community are dedicated to serving the educational needs of the students in Calaveras. The Calaveras County Board of Education (CCBE) is seeking a board member to represent District 4. District 4 currently includes the communities of Angels Camp, Altaville, Salt Spring Valley and Copperopolis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ccoe.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/ccoe.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"228\" height=\"200\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-97651\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The general duties of the county board of education are indicated in several sections of the California Education Code. Education Code 1040 requires that a county board of education adopt rules and regulations consistent with state and local government. The Board is required to keep a record of their proceedings.<\/p>\n<p>Board duties outlined include approval of the annual budget of the county superintendent of schools, review of the annual audit report, expulsion appeals, adoption of resolutions, property acquisition and disposal, just to list a few. A complete description and the board vacancy application are available on the Calaveras County Office of Education (CCOE) website at www.ccoe.k12.ca.us\/board\/.<\/p>\n<p>Calaveras County Superintendent of Schools Scott Nanik stated, \u201cThere has been a long-standing tradition of seasoned and vested board members on the CCBE. We are looking for an individual that is dedicated to education in Calaveras and is looking to make a long-term impact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We asked the current CCBE members to share their thoughts about serving on the board. Valier Tudor, CCBE member for 32 years said, \u201cI joined to board to fulfill my desire to serve the community, I felt a real need to do public service work.\u201d Steven Looper has been on the board 27 years and stated, \u201cBeing on the board is a really great way to serve the community and show our youth how much we value them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marti Crane has served on the CCBE for 12 years and said, \u201cA position on the board represents an opportunity to work with a dedicated team to ensure high quality education for our students.\u201d Member Colleen Denny-Garamendi shared that, \u201cAs a parent of students who grew up in Calaveras schools, I wanted to serve on the County Board of Education to share my experience, represent our area, and help promote excellence in our county schools and programs.\u201d Sean Paulson, the newest board member, talked about goals for CCBE and explained, \u201cThe best goal for the board is to be a bridge to the public on what is happening with education at the county level and to support CCOE staff and superintendent with their goals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very grateful to our CCBE members for their hard work and dedication,\u201d said Nanik. \u201cWe hope to fill the vacancy with an equally dedicated individual.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>###<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Angels Camp, CA&#8230;Calaveras county has a rich history in education.
