As we stated in January,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2021\/01\/referring-trump-suspension-to-oversight-board\/\">we believe our decision was necessary and right<\/a>, and we\u2019re pleased the board has recognized that the unprecedented circumstances justified the exceptional measure we took.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-8797\" src=\"https:\/\/dailytide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/05\/Facebook-Logo.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"180\" \/><\/p>\n<p>However, while the board has not required Facebook to immediately restore Mr. Trump\u2019s accounts, it has not specified the appropriate duration of the penalty. Instead, the board criticized the open-ended nature of the suspension, calling it an \u201cindeterminate and standardless penalty,\u201d and insisted we review our response. We will now consider the board\u2019s decision and determine an action that is clear and proportionate. In the meantime, Mr. Trump\u2019s accounts remain suspended.<\/p>\n<p>The board also made a number of recommendations on how we should improve our policies.
