These hot afternoon temperatures combined with warm overnight lows in the 60s to mid 70s will result in widespread moderate to high heat risk. The Delta Breeze will bring cooling to the Sacramento and Stockton areas on Tuesday while it will still remain hot further inland.<\/p>\n

* WHAT…Hot conditions with afternoon highs in the upper 90s to
\n around 108 degrees, hottest today. Delta breeze cooling Tuesday
\n for Sacramento and Stockton areas but still hot further
\n inland.<\/p>\n
* WHERE…Southern Sacramento Valley, Northern San Joaquin Valley
\n and surrounding foothills.<\/p>\n
* WHEN…From noon today to 9 PM PDT Tuesday.<\/p>\n
* IMPACTS…Widespread moderate to high heat risk. Heat-related
\n illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke can occur
\n due to prolonged exposure to hot temperatures. Most vulnerable
\n include children, the elderly, those without air conditioning,
\n and those with chronic ailments. Holiday travelers, hikers,
\n campers, and outdoor enthusiasts should prepare for the
\n excessive heat.<\/p>\n
PRECAUTIONARY\/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…<\/p>\n
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
\nof the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
\nchildren and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
\nunder any circumstances.<\/p>\n
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
\npossible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
\nevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
\nstroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
\npossible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
\nSafety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
\nrest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
\novercome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
