{"id":123389,"date":"2021-06-23T17:24:17","date_gmt":"2021-06-24T00:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/69.46.6.243\/?p=123389"},"modified":"2021-06-23T17:24:17","modified_gmt":"2021-06-24T00:24:17","slug":"u-s-dept-of-labor-awards-more-than-130m-in-grants-to-support-registered-apprenticeship-programs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=123389","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Dept. of Labor Awards More Than $130M in Grants to Support Registered Apprenticeship Programs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington, DC&#8230; The U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of more than $130 million in grants to develop, modernize and diversify <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/agencies\/eta\/apprenticeship\">Registered Apprenticeship Programs<\/a>\u00a0in 15 states and to establish Registered Apprenticeship Technical Assistance Centers of Excellence in three states and Washington, D.C., to provide technical expertise and services and accelerate the expansion of Registered Apprenticeship programs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/usdl.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-123390\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/usdl.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/usdl.png 200w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/usdl-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/usdl-30x30.png 30w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The department\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dol.gov\/agencies\/eta\">Employment and Training Administration<\/a>\u00a0awarded more than $99 million in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grants.gov\/web\/grants\/view-opportunity.html?oppId=332183\">State Apprenticeship Expansion, Equity and Innovation grants<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 ranging from $2 million to $10 million \u2013 to bolster states\u2019 efforts to expand programming and inclusive recruitment strategies to attract a diverse workforce. The awards include more than $85 million for states that demonstrated a commitment to increase their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. These grants also aim to develop partnerships with new industries and non-traditional occupations, including industry sectors hardest hit by the pandemic, and align Registered Apprenticeships with other\u00a0work-based learning opportunities within state education and workforce systems,<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cToday\u2019s announcement reflects the Department of Labor\u2019s renewed commitment to expanding Registered Apprenticeship to train U.S. workers and ensure that diversity and inclusion are core elements of our nation\u2019s post-pandemic economic recovery,\u201d said Secretary of Labor Marty Walsh. \u201cUsing Registered Apprenticeships to expand career opportunities for all workers, especially those in under-represented populations, is a priority for the department and a critical component of the Biden-Harris administration\u2019s American Jobs Plan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To facilitate expansion of Registered Apprenticeship programs, the department also awarded nearly $31 million through cooperative agreements to establish four\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grants.gov\/web\/grants\/view-opportunity.html?oppId=332301\">Registered Apprenticeship Technical Assistance Centers of Excellence<\/a>\u00a0to provide technical assistance to apprenticeship programs and their enrolled trainees. Located in key areas, the RA-TA Centers of Excellence will seek to create successful and inclusive talent pipelines that meet the needs of today\u2019s industries, workers and communities.
