{"id":124901,"date":"2021-07-12T17:18:13","date_gmt":"2021-07-13T00:18:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/69.46.6.243\/?p=124901"},"modified":"2021-07-12T17:18:13","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T00:18:13","slug":"governor-newsom-signs-order-to-free-up-additional-energy-capacity-amid-oregon-wildfire-impacting-transmission-lines-and-extreme-heat-in-the-west","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=124901","title":{"rendered":"Governor Newsom Signs Order to Free Up Additional Energy Capacity Amid Oregon Wildfire Impacting Transmission Lines and Extreme Heat in the West"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento, CA&#8230;In response to the growing wildfire in Southern-Central Oregon that is impacting transmission lines used to import energy to California and continued extreme temperatures in the West, Governor Gavin Newsom today signed an executive order to free up additional energy capacity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/dailytide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/gavinsigning-400x250-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-6563\" src=\"https:\/\/dailytide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/gavinsigning-400x250-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Building on his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2021\/07\/09\/governor-newsom-takes-action-to-increase-energy-capacity-amid-heat-wave-and-disruption-to-regional-transmission-system-due-to-oregon-wildfire\/\">emergency proclamation<\/a>\u00a0yesterday which suspends certain permitting requirements to enable the use of back-up power generation, today\u2019s order allows the emergency use of auxiliary ship engines to relieve pressure on the electric grid.<\/p>\n<p>The California ISO is calling on individuals and businesses to \u201cflex their power\u201d by conserving as much electricity as possible this evening from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The California Governor\u2019s Office of Emergency Services earlier this week\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2021\/07\/09\/california-deploys-firefighting-personnel-to-assist-response-to-bootleg-fire-in-oregon\/\">deployed firefighting equipment and personnel to Oregon<\/a>\u00a0through the Emergency Management Assistance Compact to assist in the response to the Bootleg Fire.<\/p>\n<p>Since last summer, the state\u2019s energy agencies have taken swift action to ensure grid reliability \u2013 both this summer and into the future \u2013 to build the state\u2019s climate resilience.
