This, in addition to California leading national trends when it comes to keeping schools open and keeping kids out of the hospital.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11153\" src=\"https:\/\/dailytide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.15-pic-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe implemented the most robust school reopening and safety strategy in the entire country, and now California\u2019s students are back in the classroom and schools are remaining open at nation-leading rates,\u201d said Governor Newsom. \u201cIt\u2019s no coincidence that California is the first state to advance out of the CDC\u2019s \u2018high\u2019 transmission category and has the lowest case rates in the entire country. The state\u2019s efforts and resources have made schools among the safest places in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/experience.arcgis.com\/experience\/bf1878e63e294ff1b5c5d490085077ef\">Student Supports &amp; In-Person Dashboard<\/a>\u00a0provides data collected from school districts regarding how many students are back in classrooms, and the expanded educational opportunities and wellness services available for students \u2013 the data shows that the vast majority of districts have 95-100 percent of students in-person, and nearly 98 percent of schools are expanding mental health, after-school and tutoring programs:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-63241 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.15-pic-1.png\" sizes=\"auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 624px, 100vw\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.15-pic-1.png 624w, https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.15-pic-1-480x262.png 480w\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"340\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/maps.schools.covid19.ca.gov\/public-instruction-status.html\">District 2021-22 Instruction Status Map<\/a>\u00a0provides a regional breakdown of student in-person rates, expanded educational opportunities and in-school outbreak-associated cases:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-63246\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.15-pic-2.png\" sizes=\"auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 624px, 100vw\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.15-pic-2.png 624w, https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.15-pic-2-480x279.png 480w\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"363\" \/><\/p>\n<p>CDC data has shown that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/covid.cdc.gov\/covid-data-tracker\/#new-hospital-admissions\" data-et-has-event-already=\"true\">California is leading national trends for keeping kids out of the hospital<\/a>: as of September 12, the national rate of COVID-19 hospitalizations for those aged 0-17 was 3 times the rate of California\u2019s, while Florida\u2019s rate was 6 times that of California.<\/p>\n<p>Nationally,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cai.burbio.com\/school-opening-tracker\/\">California is leading national trends in keeping schools open<\/a>. According to the independent site Burbio that tracks nationwide school closures, roughly 1,900 to 2,000 school closures have occurred this year, with only nine in California \u2013 amounting to roughly 0.5 percent of total closures nationwide:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-63251\" src=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-pic-3.png\" sizes=\"auto, (min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 624px, 100vw\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-pic-3.png 624w, https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/9.16-pic-3-480x401.png 480w\" alt=\"\" width=\"624\" height=\"521\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Through the winter, the Governor championed urgent action to provide school funding to both accelerate school reopenings in the 2020-21 school year and expand student supports for the summer and 2021-22 school year.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220AB86\">AB 86<\/a>\u00a0was enacted on March 5, 2021, with $4.6 billion (of $6.6 billion in total funding) dedicated to expanding student supports. Schools used those early funds to expand educational opportunities for the summer and the upcoming school year. According to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2021\/06\/07\/california-releases-new-summer-programming-and-school-reopening-data-launches-parental-engagement-campaign\/\">summer data<\/a>, 89 percent of school districts reporting offered new learning opportunities over the summer, including learning acceleration (e.g., high-dose tutoring), enrichment and mental health services.<\/p>\n<p>Building on this funding, the Governor signed into law a historic\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/FACT-SHEET-Transforming-Public-Schools-1.pdf\">$123.9 billion K-12 education package<\/a>\u00a0that represents a transformation of our public schools over the next several years.<\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">###<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Oakland, CA&#8230;Governor Gavin Newsom visited a TK-8 school in Oakland to highlight the state\u2019s efforts to safely open schools for full in-person instruction, highlighting new state data showing that the vast majority of school districts are reporting that 95-100 percent of students are in-person.
