{"id":131864,"date":"2021-11-08T09:27:31","date_gmt":"2021-11-08T17:27:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=131864"},"modified":"2021-11-08T09:27:31","modified_gmt":"2021-11-08T17:27:31","slug":"starting-today-fully-vaccinated-travelers-permitted-to-enter-u-s-via-land-and-ferry-border-crossings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/?p=131864","title":{"rendered":"Starting Today Fully Vaccinated Travelers Permitted to Enter U.S. via Land and Ferry Border Crossings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Washington, DC&#8230;Starting today, foreign nationals who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have appropriate documentation will be permitted to enter the United States via land ports of entry (POEs) and ferry terminals for non-essential reasons such as tourism.\u00a0 The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reminds these travelers to be prepared to (1) provide proof of their COVID-19 vaccination, as outlined on the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/travelers\/proof-of-vaccination.html\">Centers for Disease Control (CDC)<\/a>\u202fwebsite; and (2) verbally attest to their reason for travel and COVID-19 vaccination status during a border inspection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11700\" src=\"https:\/\/dailytide.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/254721403_4910723242273606_8470416056081646956_n.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"640\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, after more than 18 months of pandemic-related travel restrictions, DHS is taking a critical step toward resuming normal travel,\u201d said\u00a0Secretary\u00a0of Homeland Security Alejandro N.\u00a0Mayorkas.\u00a0 \u201cTravelers who are fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and have appropriate documentation are now permitted to enter the United States via our land and ferry border crossings for non-essential reasons such as visiting friends and family and engaging in tourism. DHS continues to work closely with our international partners and domestic public health experts to sustainably resume travel while protecting our communities and economic security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>DHS\u2019s\u00a0U.S.\u00a0Customs and Border Protection\u00a0(CBP)\u00a0is working\u00a0to prevent long lines at\u00a0land\u00a0POEs\u00a0and ferry terminals\u00a0as normal travel resumes.\u00a0\u00a0However, long lines are expected in the initial days following pent-up demand, and CBP will adjust resources as needed, while\u00a0continuing to facilitate lawful trade and travel and protect our national security.\u00a0\u00a0Travelers are advised to expect longer-than-normal\u00a0wait times,\u00a0familiarize\u00a0themselves\u00a0with\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dhs.gov\/news\/2021\/10\/29\/fact-sheet-guidance-travelers-enter-us-land-ports-entry-and-ferry-terminals\">new guidelines<\/a>,\u00a0and have appropriate documentation ready\u00a0during a border inspection.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. citizens are reminded to bring a\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/travel\/us-citizens\/western-hemisphere-travel-initiative\">Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative<\/a>\u202f(WHTI)-compliant\u00a0document, such as a valid U.S. passport, Trusted Traveler Program card, Enhanced Driver\u2019s License, or Enhanced Tribal Card, when re-entering the\u00a0United States\u00a0and\u00a0should\u00a0be prepared to present a WHTI-compliant document if requested by a CBP Officer during a border inspection.\u00a0Any non-citizen attempting to enter the United States through illegal means or without appropriate documentation may be subject to expulsion or removal.<\/p>\n<p>To help reduce wait times and long lines, travelers can take advantage of\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/biometrics.cbp.gov\/\">facial biometrics<\/a>\u202fand the\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/about\/mobile-apps-directory\/cbpone\">CBP One&#x2122;<\/a>,
