Wade<\/a>\u00a0and highlighted California\u2019s commitment to ensuring access to reproductive health care services in the face of national threats to reproductive rights:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wY0c6yz_Z3U\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we commemorate the 49th\u00a0anniversary of\u00a0Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court case establishing a woman\u2019s Constitutional right to a safe and legal abortion. Almost half a century later, we know without a doubt that limiting access to reproductive health care, including abortion, is a fundamental violation of individual liberty and freedom. The simple fact remains \u2013 America can\u2019t achieve true equality if women do not have control over their own bodies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt a time when some across our nation are purposefully and deliberately choosing to attack women\u2019s reproductive rights, California will continue to be a beacon of light \u2013 expanding access to abortion and reproductive care, and ensuring our state is a place where people receive critical reproductive health care services quickly and safely,\u201d said Governor Newsom and First Partner Siebel Newsom.<\/p>\n<p>The Governor and First Partner joined elected officials, activists and stakeholders in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?app=desktop&amp;v=wY0c6yz_Z3U&amp;feature=youtu.be\">virtual Planned Parenthood rally to commemorate the anniversary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Newsom\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Reproductive-Health-Blueprint-Fact-Sheet.pdf\">California Blueprint<\/a>\u00a0continues the state\u2019s leadership in advancing access to reproductive and sexual health care and protecting workers. The Plan removes the Medi-Cal requirements for in-person follow-up visits and ultrasounds if they are not medically necessary, making it easier to access reproductive care. The Blueprint offers scholarships and loan repayments to health care providers that commit to providing reproductive health care services, and funding for facilities to improve their IT systems and enhance security systems. The Blueprint includes funding to subsidize the cost of abortion care and to make human papillomavirus vaccines a covered benefit.<\/p>\n<p>In his first year in office, Governor Newsom signed a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/Proclamation-on-Reproductive-Freedom.pdf\">Proclamation on Reproductive Freedom<\/a>\u00a0reaffirming California\u2019s commitment to protecting women\u2019s reproductive choices. The Governor has advanced investments to expand access to reproductive and sexual health care and signed multiple bills protecting reproductive freedom, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/leginfo.legislature.ca.gov\/faces\/billTextClient.xhtml?bill_id=202120220SB374\">SB 374<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.ca.gov\/2019\/10\/11\/governor-gavin-newsom-signs-reproductive-freedom-legislation-including-bill-to-expand-access-to-care-on-college-campuses\/\">SB 24 and AB 1264<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>###<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sacramento, CA&#8230;Governor Gavin Newsom and First Partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom commemorated the anniversary of\u00a0Roe v.
