The grants are part of Governor Newsom\u2019s Clean California initiative, a sweeping $1.1 billion, multiyear clean-up effort led by Caltrans to remove trash, create thousands of jobs and engage communities to transform public spaces.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/caltrans-logo-e1611736361782.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/new.thepinetree.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/caltrans-logo-e1611736361782.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-48146\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cCaltrans District 10 is very excited to provide more than $8 million in grants that will<br \/>\nbeautify public spaces in disadvantaged communities,\u201d said District 10 Director, Dennis<br \/>\nT. Agar. \u201cThis funding will not only cleanup parks and city streets, but also conduct<br \/>\nmuch-needed repairs, enhancing safety and helping improve local economy through job<br \/>\ncreation and encouraging tourism.\u201d<br \/>\nThe projects include a wide range of community enhancements for cities, counties,<br \/>\ntransit agencies and tribal governments to beautify public spaces, such as litter removal,<br \/>\nlandscaping and art installations, walking and bike paths, and other complete streets<br \/>\nfeatures that enhance safety and access to transportation. The grants will generate<br \/>\n3,600 jobs statewide, and recipients must complete their projects by June 30, 2024. The<br \/>\nGovernor\u2019s California Blueprint proposes an additional $100 million to fund another<br \/>\nround of Clean California local projects.<br \/>\nProjects located in District 10 include:<br \/>\n\u2022 Smyrna Park, Ceres: Improving safety and public access by increasing pathways<br \/>\nto and from the park, traffic crossing improvements at intersections,<br \/>\nimplementing safety lighting and security features, repairing fencing, adding<br \/>\nshade structures, more trees and murals by local high school art students.<br \/>\n\u2022 Winton Community Park Restoration, Merced County: New walking path with<br \/>\nenergy-efficient lighting, new picnic shelters and playground. Local high school<br \/>\nstudents will plant trees and design and install new park benches.<br \/>\n\u2022 Tuolumne County: Cleanup, restoration and beautification will enhance Main<br \/>\nstreets and other areas of Jamestown and Groveland with EV charging stations,<br \/>\nsidewalk repairs, murals, additional shade trees, wildlife resistant trash<br \/>\nreceptacles and more access to parking.<br \/>\nThe local projects announced this week are in addition to the $312 million for 126<br \/>\nbeautification projects along the state highway system that were announced last month.<br \/>\nSince launching Clean California in July, Caltrans has removed nearly 7,400 tons of<br \/>\nlitter from the state highway system \u2013 enough to fill 134 Olympic-size swimming pools \u2013<br \/>\nand hired 623 new team members as part of Clean California, including 498<br \/>\nmaintenance workers who collect litter and remove graffiti.<br \/>\nFor a complete list of projects and more information about Clean California,<br \/>\nvisit CleanCA.com.<br \/>\n###<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Stockton, CA \u2013 Following Governor Gavin Newsom\u2019s announcement this week of $296 million in Clean California grants to underserved communities throughout the state, Caltrans will locally fund six projects in Stanislaus, Merced and Tuolumne counties to remove trash, create jobs and engage residents to transform public spaces.
