Murphys, CA…Margaret Ann Sommer, age 70, died on February 22, 2022. Born in Alturas, California on June 15, 1951, Margaret was the daughter of Joseph and Barbara Thornton. She was a loving wife and mother dedicated to her family. Margaret was faith-filled and devoted to Our Blessed Mother, the rosary, and Divine Mercy Chaplet. She loved Irish dancing, old movies, hymns, and anything musical. She enjoyed walks by the ocean, had a passion for horses since childhood, a fondness for flowers, and possessed a wickedly clever wit. Margaret was generous with her nieces and nephews and had a great impact on the formation of their lives. She was Godmother to Joshua McHardy, Henry Thornton, and Luke Thornton.<\/p>\n

Margaret is survived by her husband, Andreas, two daughters, Barbara Sommer and Heidi (Gordon) Forrest, three sisters: Jean (Dave, deceased) McHardy, Mary (Lans) Thornton, Ruth (Joe) Lawrence and a brother John (Deb) Thornton. Margaret was predeceased by two brothers: Joe (Sydney) Thornton, and Tom (Debbie) Thornton. She had 18 nieces\/nephews, 23 great nieces\/nephews, and one on the way.<\/p>\n

Recitation of the rosary will be held for Margaret on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Murphys, California.
