San Andreas, CA…Thomas is a handsome short-haired brown tabby junior. He was a stray that a woman was feeding, but the woman moved and he was abandoned. Thomas was shy when he first arrived at the shelter but has become much more confident and now enjoys head scratches and pets from volunteers and shelter staff. He is still a bit reserved when meeting people he doesn\u2019t know, but he warms up quickly. He is a calm, gentle kitty and revs up his purr motor as soon as you pet him.<\/p>\n

Some cats are \u201cbush dwellers\u201d who like to stay low to the ground and some are \u201ctree dwellers\u201d who seek higher ground. Thomas is a tree dweller\u2013\u2013he likes to perch on high places. To help prevent Thomas from jumping on unwanted places such as a refrigerator or bookcase, his new home should have a cat tree, preferably in front of a window, where Thomas can relax and observe the world around him. Thomas needs to be adopted by someone who understands that it may take a bit of time for Thomas to adjust to his new surroundings. Since Thomas is already neutered, he can go home with you right away.<\/p>\n

All cats available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up-to-date on their routine vaccinations will be microchipped. All unaltered cats must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you.<\/p>\n

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
\nWhen the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off\u2013\u2013reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.<\/p>\n
