The Calaveras Community Band traces its history to the days following the Gold\u00a0Rush. Men would brush away the grime of the mines, put on a<\/span>\u00a0uniform,\u00a0grab their\u00a0horns and entertain the crowds at many public functions. Creating music brought extra meaning to their lives and provided a counterpoint to the stresses of the day.\u00a0 In those times\u00a0we were known as the Angels Camp Miners Band, the Murphys Independent Cornet Band,\u00a0and dozen other names as the years passed.<\/p>\n

The Calaveras Community Band continues with this honored tradition.\u00a0While\u00a0most of today’s\u00a0members aren’t gold miners, we come from many walks of life. The age range\u00a0of our group nearly spans a century itself, from\u00a012 – 90 years young.\u00a0But the spirit remains the same \u2013 we are people who love to play, performing for those who enjoy listening.\u00a0 Music is a very important part of\u00a0our lives and playing in the band is a magical time.<\/p>\n

The Calaveras Community Band is a non-profit corporation and your donations are tax deductible under Federal and State laws as a 501(c)3 tax exempt organization.\u00a0The\u00a0CCB is funded in part\u00a0by\u00a0a grant\u00a0from the Calaveras Community Foundation.\u00a0 These funds help us purchase new music, cover concert venue fees, and publicity.<\/p>\n
