Foresthill, CA…The Mosquito Fire is burning actively near Oxbow Reservoir, 3 miles east of Foresthill, in brush and timber in very steep and rugged terrain. Fire is under unified command with US Forest Service, CAL FIRE, Placer County Sheriff and Foresthill Fire Protection District.\u00a0 The photo below is of smoke impacting Tahoe area from Diamond Peak above Incline Village, NV.<\/p>\n

Unified Commanders are aware of structure damage in the Michigan Bluff area. Where safe, damage inspection teams will begin assessing areas within the fire area today, and additional information will be provided when it is available.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n

Outlook<\/h3>\n\n\n\n\n\n
Planned Actions<\/td>\nFirefighting personnel continue to focus on building containment lines around the fire through the removal of fire fuels, and tactical patrol around the fire perimeter. This involves both manual line construction with hand crews and mechanical line construction utilizing bulldozers. Firefighters assigned to tactical patrol will work to keep the fire within the current fire perimeter. However, very steep terrain will continue to challenge all personnel and make direct attack difficult.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Projected Incident Activity<\/td>\nContinued hot\/dry conditions. Anticipating increased fire behavior. California Interagency Incident Management Team CAIIMT Team 5 (Young) has been assigned and took command of the fire at 6:00 pm.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Remarks<\/td>\nPlacer County Health and Human Services and the Placer County Air Pollution Control District are issuing a joint air quality advisory through Friday, September 9, due to potentially poor air quality conditions from smoke from the Mosquito Fire.
