Murphys, CA…Mind Matters, the Murphys based non-profit clinic that is noted for its innovative treatment of autism and similar disorders, has been named the Nonprofit of the Year by the Calaveras Chamber of Commerce. The award was bestowed at the chamber\u2019s annual dinner in Angels Camp. \u201cThere are so many worthwhile nonprofit organizations in our area working together to serve the community,\u201d says Trudy Lackey, Mind Matters Executive Director. \u201cTo be singled out to receive this award is extremely gratifying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\tThe clinic was founded in 2007 by Dr. Ryan Thompson and his wife Kim as a result of their difficulty in finding help for their son, Mitch, who is autistic. Over the years, the clinic has developed a wide range of successful programs to help individuals and families cope with the consequences of autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD\/ADD), and learning disabilities. Its comprehensive approach is unique in the Mother Lode.<\/p>\n

\t\u201cWe are fortunate to have developed a strong donor base and to have received a number of grants,\u201d says Lackey. \u201cThis makes it possible for us to provide services to many families who need financial aid. Without these generous contributions we would not be able to fulfill our mission.\u201d<\/p>\n
