Sonora, CA…This morning, at approximately 11:46 AM, an incident occurred at the intersection of State Route 108 and Wigwam Road, involving a traffic collision with no reported injuries. The incident was reported by a witness who stated that the collision occurred due to cones that were set out to block the roadway due to flooding.<\/p>\n

According to the witness, the cones were blown into the path of a vehicle by strong winds, causing damage to the vehicle’s fender. The driver of the vehicle was unsure if the vehicle was still driveable, but stated that they would call for their own tow truck if necessary.<\/p>\n

The witness also corrected their initial statement and said the cones were for work being done on the shoulder and not for a flood closure<\/p>\n

Emergency units were dispatched to the scene and arrived at approximately 11:48 AM. The units were able to determine that there were no injuries as a result of the incident and cleared the scene shortly thereafter.<\/p>\n

It is important to note that in emergency situations such as this, the safety of all involved is the top priority. It is fortunate that no one was injured in this incident, but it serves as a reminder of the importance of proper traffic control and safety measures when performing work on or near busy roadways.<\/p>\n

In this particular case, it is not clear whether the cones were placed by the government contractor or a private company, If it is found that the cones were not placed properly, the contractor or company in charge may face liability for any damages caused.<\/p>\n
