The storm is expected to bring snow down to elevations of 1500 feet and is likely to cause road delays and closures. Travel during this time could be very difficult to impossible with the potential for prolonged road closures.<\/p>\n

Winter storms create a higher risk of car accidents, hypothermia, frostbite, carbon dioxide poisoning, and heart attacks from overexertion. Calaveras Public Health urges people to stay safe during winter weather:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Stay off roads if at all possible. If you do travel, carry a flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
\n\u2022 Limit your time outside to avoid exposure to extreme cold. If you need to go outside, wear layers of warming clothing.
\n\u2022 Prepare for power outages.
\n\u2022 Reduce risk of a heart attack by avoiding overexertion when shoveling snow and walking in the snow.
\n\u2022 Learn the signs of frostbite and hypothermia.
\n\u2022 Call 9-1-1 for emergencies.<\/p>\n
