Angels Camp, CA…On April 25th, twelve Bret Harte FFA members made their way down to Delta college to receive their California State FFA Degree. The State FFA degree is the highest honor that the state of California can bestow upon a FFA member. Qualifying for your State Degree is no easy task;\u00a0 it requires time, income, and years of service within the FFA organization.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

In order to receive your state FFA degree you must hold a Chapter degree, productively earned or invested $1,000 in their Supervised Agricultural Experience Project, passed a parliamentary procedure test, give a six minute speech relating to agriculture or FFA, served on an FFA committee, participated in five FFA activities above the chapter level, and completed 25 hours of community service. Approximately 5% of California FFA membership receive this honor.<\/p>\n

The twelve people who received this degree are: Justin Bain, Sophie Bouma, Esme Cole, Addy Heermance, Kaylee Kautz, Reata Lucore, Jessica Marciel, Abbi Molina, Kimmy Nava, Afton Phillips, Olivia Shelton, and Makenna Tutthill.<\/p>\n

Also at the ceremony, Afton Phillips was recognized as the Mother Lode Section Star Reporter winner. Additionally, Mrs. Phillips was recognized as the Mother Lode Section Golden Owl winner. The Bret Harte FFA chapter is very proud of these individuals and honored to add them to the official list of degree awardees.\u00a0 It is no doubt that these twelve individuals were \u201cbuilding their golden foundations\u201d with their golden charm of the State FFA Degree.<\/p>\n
