<\/a><\/p>\nThe first Frog Jump was held in 1928 as part of a community celebration marking the paving of Main Street in Angels Camp joining forces with the Calaveras County Fair in 1937 at the facility known as Frogtown.<\/p>\n
In the spirit of Mark Twain\u2019s \u201cThe Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County,\u201d entrants jumped, hollered, and tickled their frogs to leap for victory. Ultimately, Assemblymember Chen\u2019s team was victorious with a frog named Phil that soared 12 feet 5 inches.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a great day of fun highlighting an important part of our history in Calaveras County. Unfortunately, my frog only jumped 9 feet; there\u2019s always next year,\u201d stated Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil, who plans on growing the event to draw attention to the Calaveras Fair.<\/p>\n
