The road is closed each winter from the Sno-Park for approximately 28 miles to the summit. District 9 crews began working from the east side of the summit to clear the road all the way to U.S. Highway 395.<\/p>\n<p>Along the way, crews found mudslides, rockslides, avalanches, tree debris, and flooding. All those hazards were cleaned up and fixed before the pass was officially ready for the traveling public.<\/p>\n<p>Caltrans encourages all motorists to continue to Be Work Zone Alert.
