\n11 PM PDT SUNDAY…<\/p>\n
* WHAT…Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures of 100 to
\n 110 expected.<\/p>\n
* WHERE…Northern Sacramento Valley, Central Sacramento Valley,
\n Northern San Joaquin Valley, Northeast Foothills\/Sacramento
\n Valley and Motherlode Counties. Includes communities such as
\n Redding, Chico, Oroville, Yuba City, Stockton, and Modesto.<\/p>\n
* WHEN…From 11 AM Friday to 11 PM PDT Sunday.<\/p>\n
* IMPACTS…Extreme heat will significantly increase the
\n potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those
\n working or participating in outdoor activities.<\/p>\n
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Hottest temperatures are expected
\n Saturday, particularly across the northern and central
\n Sacramento Valley. Area waterways will continue to run cold
\n and fast, creating dangerous conditions for those seeking
\n relief in rivers and lakes.<\/p>\n
PRECAUTIONARY\/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…<\/p>\n
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out
\nof the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young
\nchildren and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles
\nunder any circumstances.<\/p>\n
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
\npossible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
\nevening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
\nstroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
\npossible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational
\nSafety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent
\nrest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone
\novercome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
