During the California Gold Rush period in the mid-19th century, photography played a crucial role in documenting the dramatic social and environmental transformations of the time.<\/p>\n
In my lecture, I will be showcasing a variety of photographic examples that illustrate the diverse uses of photography during this period. This will include daguerreotypes and tintypes capturing the faces of gold miners and settlers, providing a glimpse into their daily lives and struggles.<\/p>\n
Additionally, I\u2019ll explore photographs depicting the booming mining towns, bustling with activity and commerce, as well as images of the rugged landscapes that drew thousands in search of fortune. Overall, these photographic examples will offer insight into the multifaceted ways in which photography both documented and shaped the narrative of the California Gold Rush era.<\/p>\n
