\u201cHeart disease is often called the \u2018silent killer\u2019 because its symptoms can be subtle,\u201d said Kelli Rupe, President of Soroptimist International of Calaveras County. \u201cBy providing these free screenings, we are ensuring that women in our community have access to early detection, which can ultimately save lives.\u201d<\/p>\n
The free cholesterol screenings will be available throughout February at Mark Twain Medical Center. Women interested in participating are encouraged to bring their photo ID to the MTMC Laboratory Monday through Friday from 7 am to 1 pm for their no-cost screening. You must start fasting 12 hours prior to your visit for accurate results.<\/p>\n
