<\/a><\/p>\nIt was a different world in 2005.\u00a0 Pre-Facebook, Pre-Twitter & even texting on mobile phones was a novelty.\u00a0 What hasn’t changed in Calaveras, Tuolumne, Amador & Alpine counties is who we serve.\u00a0 \u00a0First and foremost our local audience.\u00a0 Right after that and also a huge part of our local economies is our part time residents and visitors.<\/p>\n
On most days our local audience dominates on some however visitors and part time residents that access ThePineTree.net from out of the area provide more traffic than even our loyal locals.<\/p>\n
As a second home owner told me once.\u00a0 “We read ThePineTree.net everyday to see what is happening in our “real” home.”.\u00a0 This man lived in Hillsborough and didn’t even know his neighbors.\u00a0 His heart and his “home” was right here in Arnold.<\/p>\n
Out hope was to build a news outlet where we didn’t editorialize but just brought as much of our area and its’ happenings as we could every day.<\/p>\n
Full video, tons of photos, live coverage & more were a rarity 20 years ago.\u00a0 Now it is much more common but we would like to think the full parade video & over 200 photos from Irish Day this year still adds something more than just a photo or two but a rolling archive of the events of our area.<\/p>\n
Yes, even from our beginnings we valued free speech as being able to rightly or wrongly have an opinion truly has been the American way for almost 250 years.<\/p>\n
In essence we love our communities, love our people, love the friends & believe small town America is the past, present & future spirit of our country.<\/p>\n
