Full information on project eligibility and the suspension request form are available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=1094378383&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new process to accelerate critical wildfire safety projects advances some of the essential actions identified in the Governor\u2019s Wildfire and Forest Resilience Task Force\u2019s ambitious\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=3aae526dbb&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>25 key deliverables for 2025<\/strong><\/a>, and builds on statewide efforts to move fast\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=49b4d0131f&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>to prepare communities ahead of peak wildfire season<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0by promoting key safety measures such as hardening homes and creating defensible space.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_3 quote  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<p>Peak fire season is still ahead of us, yet this year has already been marked by some of the most destructive wildfires in California\u2019s history. We need to move faster and go bigger.<\/p>\n<p>This new streamlined process, which builds on historic investments and nation leading actions to confront catastrophic wildfires, cuts red tape to fast-track more wildfire projects than ever before.<\/p>\n<p><small>Governor Gavin Newsom<\/small><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"et_pb_module et_pb_text et_pb_text_4 news-body-text  et_pb_text_align_left et_pb_bg_layout_light\">\n<div class=\"et_pb_text_inner\">\n<h2>Faster permitting without compromising environmental protections<\/h2>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=73e0d5bc08&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>new process<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0will allow practitioners across the state to move faster without compromising important environmental protections. A new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=846219e0d0&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>Statewide Fuels Reduction Environmental Protection Plan<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(EPP) has been developed to enable critical wildfire safety projects to proceed expeditiously while protecting public health and the environment. The EPP requires applicants to comply with best management practices and measures to minimize impacts to environmental resources while completing fuels reduction projects, ensuring the safeguarding of water and air quality, tribal cultural resources, and special-status species and their habitats.<\/p>\n<h2>Expanding prescribed and cultural fire<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to streamlining permitting, leaders from across the state have already come together in response to the Emergency Proclamation to start developing recommendations on specific actions to expand and expedite the implementation of prescribed and cultural fire. On April 11,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=c23efa14a1&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>a virtual briefing<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0provided an overview on the execution of the Proclamation and provided the public an opportunity to share recommendations for expanding beneficial fire.<\/p>\n<h2>Building on unprecedented progress<\/h2>\n<p>New, bold moves to streamline state-level regulatory processes builds long-term efforts already underway in California to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=496afdfe58&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>increase wildfire response and forest management in the face of a hotter, drier climate.<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0A full list of California\u2019s progress on wildfire resilience is available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=9b9e90afc8&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights of achievements to date include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Historic investments<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Overall, the state has more than doubled investments in wildfire prevention and landscape resilience efforts, providing more than $2.5 billion in wildfire resilience since 2020, with an additional $1.5 billion to be allocated from the 2024 Climate Bond.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>On-the-ground progress\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 More than 2,200 landscape health and fire prevention projects are complete or underway, and from 2021-2023, the State and its partners treated nearly 1.9 million acres, including nearly 730,000 acres in 2023.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Increasing transparency\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 The Governor\u2019s Task Force launched an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=6fb7995740&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>Interagency Treatment Dashboard<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to display wildfire resilience work across federal, state, local, and privately managed lands across the State. The Dashboard, launched in 2023, provides transparency, tracks progress, facilitates planning, and informs firefighting efforts.<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><strong>Hardening communities<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Adding to California\u2019s nation-leading fire safety\u00a0 standards, Governor Newsom signed an e<a href=\"https:\/\/mclist.us7.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=afffa58af0d1d42fee9a20e55&amp;id=29b97fad53&amp;e=0b26ba1b5c\"><strong>xecutive order<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0to further improve community hardening and wildfire mitigation strategies to neighborhood resilience statewide.
