Parking is free.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><b>Event Details<\/b><b><u><ins datetime=\"2025-03-27T09:50\"><\/ins><\/u><\/b><\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>The event weaves visitors through some of the lives of those who lived in Columbia in 1852 with stories of early miners and their families, politics, and daily events. Some of the event activities include:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>Meeting the merchants, artisans and entertainers who have come to the Diggins to \u201cmine the miners\u2019 pockets.\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Interacting and observing lifestyles of the early miners as they prepare their meals, launder their clothing and care for livestock.<\/li>\n<li>Learning about crafts, how children played, entertainment \u2013 including music and gambling. A variety of foods, drinks and other items are available for purchase during the event.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cWe just love to entertain and educate the public on this part of California\u2019s past, the Gold Rush. We do it for the love of history,\u201d said State Parks volunteer Susie Webb, who has played a key role in this event for over 15-years. You can find Susie at the American Hotel during the four-day event preparing delicious meals and interpreting hotel life during 1852.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Visitors can also explore the historic town of Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>California State Parks welcomes all visitors.
