Hathaway Pines, CA…Taking advantage of additional resources currently on the Forest, crews with the Calaveras Ranger District will begin prescribed burn operations today.<\/p>\n

Crews intend to start in the Diablo Court area to finish off remaining piles and will \u00a0shift to Avery Sheep Ranch Road beginning Friday. A combination of factors, including lack of resources and available funding, will determine if crews are able to continue operations over the weekend.<\/p>\n

\n

All burning is monitored and conducted in accordance with state and county air quality guidelines and closely coordinated with local county air quality control districts. Crews will look to burn between 50 \u2013 200 acres daily.<\/p>\n

\n

Smoke may be visible from portions of Highway 4. This project is a planned prescribed fire. Please do not report as a wildland fire.<\/p>\n

(November 21, 2024) \u2013 Working in the higher elevation campgrounds on the Stanislaus National Forest\u2019s Calaveras Ranger District, fire fighters with the districts Wildland Fire Module Crew 2, Engine 323 based in Dorrington and Patrol 23 and Patrol 24 worked to reduce piles in the Lodgepole and Lake Alpine campgrounds as well as previous timber sale areas. For the day, the crews was able to burn 157.18 acres and for the week accomplished 242.55.<\/p>\n

Once ignitions are complete, areas burned will go into a patrol status until such time as they are determined to be completely out.<\/p>\n
