During walks he has been consistently friendly with both males and females, only offering a brief, appropriate correction when another dog got overly pushy with him. We suspect that once he finds a well-matched playmate, Radar will be in absolute heaven.

Radar has the energy and enthusiasm of a younger dog and will thrive in an active home that can give him plenty of exercise and structure. He does pull on leash in his excitement to explore, but he’s already learning and responds well to guidance. He also knows sit and down, takes treats gently, and will roll onto his back with a big goofy grin for belly rubs—an offer volunteers are powerless to resist.

He’s been keeping his kennel clean, which is always a good sign, though we can’t make promises about housetraining. What we can say is that Radar is affectionate, eager, people-loving, and truly ready to bond with a family of his own.

Radar is neutered and can go home with you right away. We do not yet know how he feels about cats. A meet-and-greet is required if you have another dog at home.

To meet Radar, contact: Calaveras County Animal Services, (209) 754-6509 or animal@calaverascounty.gov.
Please use Radar’s intake number (A059959) when making inquiries.

All dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up to date on their routine vaccinations and will be microchipped. All unaltered dogs must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
The shelter is currently over 80% capacity, so adoption fees are reduced: just $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. Cats who arrive at the shelter already altered can be adopted for only $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, adopters age 55+ can adopt a pet over 5 years old for just $5.

Holiday Pet Pantry Drive: Calaveras County Animal Services is accepting pet food and new pet toy donations through Dec. 31. Drop items at the shelter during business hours to help local families and bring joy to shelter pets.

Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Road, San Andreas, (209) 754-6509
Shelter and Office Business Hours are Tuesday – Saturday, 10 AM – 4 PM

This announcement is courtesy of the Friends of Calaveras Animal Services (FOCAS) and The Pine Tree.

San Andreas, CA…Meet Radar (A059959), a neutered male Border Collie mix, about 4 years old and 56.4 pounds.
