It’s hard not to smile the moment you meet Whopper. This handsome, gregarious one-year-old Husky mix has a way of looking straight into your eyes—head cocked just so, paws politely folded—as if he’s genuinely listening to what you have to say. His greeting usually follows the same delightful pattern: a hopeful look, a soft lean-in, and then a shower of gentle hugs and kisses. Whopper is a people dog through and through, and he wears his affection proudly. Thanks to the generous support of a community donor, Whopper’s adoption fee has been fully sponsored, making this loving young dog even more ready to head home.

Whopper is known around the shelter for his wonderful sense of humor and his expressive, knowing looks. He seems to understand far more than he lets on, often offering a calm, loving gaze that makes you feel like you’ve been chosen as his person. While he’s still young and playful, he’s equally content to settle in for cuddles and quiet companionship.

Physically, Whopper is striking. His creamy, not-too-fluffy coat shows off his Husky heritage beautifully, and his mismatched eyes—one arctic blue, one warm caramel brown—give him a truly unforgettable face. But he’s far more than just good looks. Whopper is gentle, well-mannered, and surprisingly polite for a young dog.

Whopper has shown nothing but enthusiasm for the world and the people and dogs in it. He is consistently friendly and happy to meet new canine pals, greeting both dogs and humans with easygoing confidence. His joyful nature makes him a pleasure to walk and spend time with, and his openness suggests he’ll adapt well to a loving home that provides appropriate structure and secure fencing.

Whopper enjoys playtime, splashing in water, and being part of whatever is happening around him—but at the end of the day, what he really wants is connection. He thrives on companionship and has so much love to give to the right family.

If you’re looking for an affectionate, social, and all-around lovable young dog—and the bonus of a fully sponsored adoption—Whopper may be exactly the one you’ve been waiting for.

To meet Whopper, contact: Calaveras County Animal Services, (209) 754-6509 or animal@calaverascounty.gov

Please use Whopper’s intake number (A059018) when making inquiries.

All dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up to date on their routine vaccinations and will be microchipped.
