In an effort to promote safety and conservation awareness, California enacted its first hunter education law in 1954. Today, hunter education training is required for anyone who has never held a California hunting license, does not have a hunter education certificate, or does not have a hunting license from another state or province issued within the past two years.
With spring turkey season just weeks away, this course is a great opportunity to introduce young people to California\u2019s hunting tradition. The two-day course meets the state\u2019s 10-hour requirement (4 hours per day plus 2 hours of homework). Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks and water, though nothing else is required. Classes will conclude before lunch each day.
The course is free and, upon successful completion, participants will earn a California Hunter Identification Card.
