<\/a><\/p>\nSpend a few minutes with Wyatt and it becomes clear what a special dog he is. He is sweet, affectionate, and eager to be near people. He enjoys walks, especially where there are trees and fresh air to explore, and he moves through the world with the calm assurance of a dog who knows how to be a good companion.<\/p>\n
Then there is Wyatt\u2019s favorite game: fetch. Watch him focus on the ball, spring into motion, retrieve it, and place it neatly at your feet for the next throw, and you may forget entirely that this gentleman is in his senior years. His joy is wholehearted and contagious. Even now, Wyatt still finds reasons to run, play, and celebrate the day in front of him.<\/p>\n
Wyatt appears to be housetrained and has the settled manners many adopters hope for. What he needs most now is not training or transformation, but kindness, comfort, and a home willing to treasure him exactly as he is.<\/p>\n
Senior dogs know how to love in a way that is deep, uncomplicated, and true. Wyatt does not need a lifetime from someone\u2014he simply needs the right next chapter. A soft bed, gentle hands, familiar voices, and the dignity of belonging again. For the person willing to open their heart to an older dog, Wyatt may become one of the most meaningful companions they will ever know.<\/p>\n

All dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter are up to date on their routine vaccinations and will be microchipped. All unaltered dogs must be spayed or neutered before they can go home with you.<\/p>\n
Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!<\/p>\n
All adoption fees are sponsored by FOCAS through Feb 7. The shelter is currently over 80% capacity, so adoption fees are reduced: just $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. Cats who arrive at the shelter already altered can be adopted for only $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, adopters age 55+ can adopt a pet over 5 years old for just $5.<\/p>\n
June 13: Free Dog & Cat Rabies Vaccine and Microchip Clinic, from 9-11:30 AM at the Calaveras Government Center, 891 Mountain Ranch Road. Dogs must be leashed, cats must be in carriers.<\/p>\n
